Pen Review: Waterman Reflectis Kultur

I wanted a modern Waterman pen but did not want to pay a high price. I stumbled upon the Kultur "Reflectis' model. I was attracted to the finish, clear section and spring clip features of the pen. It came sealed in clear plastic packaging similar to toy action figures that are pulled from a rack. I am glad to state that even though it's first impression is that of a cheap pen that doesn't reflect how it performs.

Brand: Waterman
Model: Reflectis Kultur
Year: 2000's
Nib: Fine steel
Colour: Iridescent orange
(spectrum red to yellow/lime green)

Appearance & Design
The style has an art deco look to the cap detailing that complements the patterning on the clear section. The finish of the body engages the eye by playing with the light to reflect a variety of colours. The pen is successful in pulling together functional details and keeping it affordable. There are not too many pens in this price range that feature spring clips

Construction & Quality
The pen does feel like plastic, you can see the seams plus on this particular pen plus there is a portion of the barrel that is not finished. Usually plastic pens crack where the threading is but this cap snaps into place, this is a good thing especially when someone borrows the pen. You won't have an issue of anyone over tightening any threading unless they're filling the pen. The threading at the section does feel solid.  I don't see the pen falling apart anytime soon and the spring clip really echos that ideal.

Weight & Dimensions
The pen is long enough that it can be used without posting but I prefer the added heft the cap offers. The diameter is mid-large size and I found it comfortable to hold for long writing sessions.

Nib & Performance
The stainless steel nib is stiff but lays down a smooth wet line. I looks wider than most nibs I have seen and it has a pair of tabs that align the nib to the feed making this nib and feed combination exclusive to this pen.

Filling System & Maintenance
It is converter filled and would accept cartridges. Ink capacity is on the low end of the spectrum. The pen is ridiculously easy to clean, it can be broken down to all it's component parts within seconds.

Cost & Value
I ordered this pen online for a good price and feel that the features plus smooth writing experience this pen offers was well worth the cost.

Simply put, the Waterman Reflectis is a joy to use, clean, and look at.
