Pen Review: Noodler's Nib Creaper

I wasn't sure what to expect with the Creaper but I knew that I would be able to fit a vintage Waterman no 2 nib into it and that's exactly what I needed. The pen came in a cardstock box that was reflective of the price. Of all the colour options available I settled on a demonstrator in a Carniolan Honey colour.

Brand: Noodler's Ink
Model: Nib Creaper
Year: 2010-'s
Nib: Waterman 14k No.2 Ideal - Fine flexible
Colour: Carniolan Honey

Appearance & Design
The Creaper has a simple design, it's a slim pen with Chrome accents. It has narrow transparent slits on the barrel that make more sense on the opaque versions of the pen. The detail is similar to the Montblanc Meisterstuck ink window from the 60’s. The Noodler's imprint on the clip is bulky and doesn't add to the pen.

Construction & Quality
The pen feels light and plastic looks solid however the clip is flimsy and I couldn't see it lasting very long. All parts fit well and the ebonite feed offers up flexibility with the pen's function.

Weight & Dimensions
The Creaper is a slim small pen that doesn't feel responsive in hand, meaning that I feel like energy is exhausted in just making it move. It can be posted or not but the added weight on the end feels better balanced. After long writing sessions my finger hurts as a result. The size would best suit a lady’s or a child's hand.

Nib & Performance
The ebonite feed is what makes this pen special, it accommodates a number 2 size nibs and can be heat set with hot water to ensure proper ink flow. This opens up plenty of nib options from a variety of companies. Considering the stock nib is a stiff flexing steel, putting a vintage Waterman no 2 made for an improved writing experience.

Filling System & Maintenance
The piston filler is excellent for the price point and stores a good amount of ink. The pen can be easily taken apart making cleaning, maintenance and adjustment to the pen a breeze.

Cost & Value
The price for this piston filler with an ebonite feed is terrific. When you throw in the versatility of accommodating vintage nibs, this pen shines. I would recommend to anyone who has an interest in vintage nibs and would buy it again and again.

It's not a beautiful pen, but it sure does offer value in terms of functionality. A must buy for vintage nib owners.
