Ink Review: Golden Brown by Noodler's Ink

Golden Brown
Noodler's Ink

A great shading ink adds a certain depth and charm to handwriting that sets a fountain pen apart from all other writing instruments. Golden Brown from Noodler’s ink is one of those inks that really delivers in terms of shading and I was pleasantly surprised at how it performed.

Golden Brown - test plate after 3mL of water
Golden Brown has a wide colour spectrum from a pale yellow to a deep walnut. The shading is noticeable on both Hilroy and Clairefontaine papers. The ink dries reasonably quick and the flow is normal. I experienced no feathering or bleed through. Water leaves only traces of the ink on the paper and it is relatively easy to clean from pens. The test plate left barely any ink but there was a watermark kind of residue left behind that was easily removed by scrubbing.

The shading spectrum of colour of yellow and brown tones is pleasing to my eye, this Noodler's ink dries fast, and is easy to clean. Golden Brown has become my favourite shading ink and I find the colour great for sketching / drawing with.
