Ink Review: Corn Poppy Red by Mont Blanc

Corn Poppy Red
Mont Blanc

I was quite impressed with other Mont Blanc inks I have tried and decided to give another one of their inks a shot, this time a red. The current line of Mont Blanc stock inks features 2 red; one is a dark wine colour, and this one "Corn Poppy Red". It's a bright vibrant colour and like all stock inks in came packaged in the 'stiletto' ink well. I wasn't too keen on these before but this well design is starting to grow on me.

This Corn Poppy is a bright blood red colour with no signs of pink (unless diluted with water). It is a moderate shader with regular flow. The ink dries exceptionally fast,  on both papers tested it would not smear after 5 seconds. There was no feathering or bleed through on either papers. Water lifts the ink from the page which is typically a good indication of how easy this ink is to clean up. The flush test proved just that, the test plate showed no signs of the ink (except few droplets that I missed when flushing with the water) and cleaned rather quickly considering red tones are typically more stubborn.

Mont Blanc's Corn Poppy Red is a great red ink and ranks high in performance. A bold bright colour with super quick dry times (great for lefties) and low maintenance. I have no issues using this ink in any one of my pens. I highly recommend this one.
